Been somewhat rudderless of late, then i happen to chance upon a comment made by a fellow traveller in this journey we called life. What the fellow traveller said was true but it one of the terms used which set me thinking.
It was the term "moderation". Throughout my life, this term constantly reappears, sometimes as a bad dream yet sometimes as a rescue buoy.
A childhood playmate once mentioned when we were 18 that i had an non-moderate personality, seldom taking or doing things in moderation. He supposedly predicted that i will either fail miserably or i will succeed in unexpected ways.
But then again, as a youth blessed with the invulnerablity of inexperience, no-holds-barred was sometimes the most effective teacher. IF you believe in something, go all out, i would say!
Also when i was around 18 or 19, my israeli trained encik in the army commented that i would have ended up as those bohemian-like war protesting hippies if i was born earlier. Since then, I just love imagining myself going "hell no, we wont go" in some idealistic war protest waving placards and going flower power into the barrel of a gun. "if something is wrong then speak up, i would say!"
Then, suddenly the busy years went rushing by. Work work work, play play play, club club club…….
The invulnerablity of youth slowly was replaced by the predictablity of experience and the practice of moderation.
It was comfortable at times but hardly fulfilling. Like a rescue bouy in the middle of the blue ocean of life, it was sufficient but hardly secure cuz "moderation" had a good fren and that fren’s name is "mediocrity".
Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
The Sith may still return.
XiaoQiang just finished watching Seinfeld rerun and was in stitches when he heard George saying the following "Borrowing Money is like having sex……….. it completely changes the relationship"
